24" or bigger, I'd go for the SM2443BW... 1920x1200, around £250 IIRC.
It is a TN panel, but under £300 it's going to be TN... e-IPS at 1920x1080 is the next option up, but I think that would be over budget. Only the 22" versions seem to come in under £300.

It is PVA, but only 22" and just over the £300 budget. I have always liked NEC monitors though...
They do a TN 24" at £299 (These are the suggested prices - you might be able to find them a little cheaper - although they don't seem to be heavily discounted)

you can get an HP ZR24W with IPS panel for £323. Been some complaints about black level but I've got one and had no problems with it.
