It seems ok, but it does increase ambient temps a bit. Not that it is a cause to worry. Have in mind, they tested with a 8800GTS.

Your best bet is to hunt around on fleabay or simular for a 2nd hand cooler.
Something like a combo of Zalman ZM-RHS88 and a cpu heatsink&fan (eg zalman VF1000 or AC Accelero S1 Rev. 2) would be a good option.
