    5870 Problem

i got a xfx 5870 xxx a little while back and one days was playing serious sam hd demo with Cptwhite and my screen kept going grey and my pc would completely lockup, i thought that maybe it was 5870 xxx overheating so i bought an arctic cooling accelero dual 92mm fan cooler and for a few weeks no problems at all but downloaded Borderlands today 3 mis into game pc crashes and locks up.

I ran gpu-z in the background and the last sensor log entry had gpu temp at 62c it went from 48 at load to 62 in 3 minutes. Is the cooler not up to the job the original cooler idled 10c higher or is my card dud, I know my case airflow is bad as its a thermaltake kandalf LCS and the airflow round the rad is good but inside case its awful, VDDC temps were at 75ish on all phases

I've tried every driver from 10.3 up and issue is there still, pc fully up to date latest drivers patches and such, when i play other games like Cod MW2 its fine,

    Cheers for help guys

P.s Have complete rebuilt my pc and still the issue got new cpu mobo and ram and hard drive since this first started and issue still here, Also tried removing all overclocks on the pc even clocking the graphics card back to standard speeds still no change.

I'm no expert but I think the technical term is the grey screen of death. I have heard of it but no idea for fixes or remedies. Have a look at the http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/02/...x-coming-soon/.

nVidia cards are supposed to suffer the pink screen of death!

Hi - I am an expert on the GSOD I'm afraid. Same model and same manufacturer. It's not a temperature problem but appears to be linked to the VRAM frequencies. I tried everything as well, and finally resolved the issue by getting XFX to send me a new BIOS for the card.
It's been a few months now and I haven't had a single problem. I run BC2, L4D2 all sorts, currently on 10.5 drivers.
Get onto XFX and ask. My support ticket was 284654. If no joy - let me know and I'll send you the details.
