23.6" Monitor Buying Advice
It's finally time for me to get a new monitor to replace this Samsung 19" LCD non-widescreen.
Considering i've had no problems at all with this one, I see no reason to change to another brand.
After looking at a few different models, so far this 23.6" Samsung SM2494HS seems to look around the best option. It's priced @ £206 on Scan.
Are these 23.6" monitors a better choice than a 23" or 24"?
Also does anyone know if this model has any glaring faults or inadequecies?
Re: 23.6" Monitor Buying Advice
Having just upgraded from a 19" myself I can recommend the BenQ G2420HDBL, you can find here for £160 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...id=510&subcat= it does lack the HDMI connectivity and built in speakers of the samsung you linked, but if that's not an issue for you then perhaps the 45 positive reviews may sway your brand loyalty and save you a few quid.
The 23.6" monitors have the same resolution as the 24" ones, so the difference is in response times and contrast ratios etc, these two monitors seem to share the same specifications in this regard.
The BenQ is LED Backlit which supposedly increases colour representation, I can't speak to this fact but I certainly can't complain about it's performance.

have u got nvidia graphics, if u have you could go 3d with ure monitor - this will be more expensive though

Using a BFG GTX285 currently, but would rather not spend extra money on 3D monitor.
I've had a look at the BenQ and read some of those reviews and it looks quite good, will probably go for it. And it's on offer on OC this week so double incentive.

+3 BenQ G2420HDBL
The BenQ G2420HDBL is a great monitor, and it is a priced very competitively at the moment which is a great time for us users to buy :)
It offers the standard Full HD wide screen that you're looking for. The BenQ models are usually a popular pick as they are cheap and offer great specs (well good for what you pay for compared to competitors).
The only downside of the G2420HDBL which is why I would also recommend you to look at the BenQ G2420HD is because the HDBL version is using LED backlit, but it lacks HDMI connectivity.
Which if you don't mind there are DVI to HDMI adapters. DVI and HDMI are both digital output so it wouldn't make a difference in quality. The only diff. between the 2 is that HDMI has sound and video and DVI only has video. Hope that explains a bit more :)
Re: 23.6" Monitor Buying Advice
Went for the 2420HDBL had it about a month now. Was a little annoyed it didn't come with a DVI cable, luckily was able to use the one from my Samsung. However still not convinced this was a better choice than one of the Samsung's.
Re: 23.6" Monitor Buying Advice
But are you finding the monitor itself to your liking? Aside from the DVI cable? I'm quite surprised.... I thought these monitors usually come with DVI... I know they definitely don't come with HDMI cause those are costly.
