Green line with DELL 2405 FPW (fixable?)
I have a thick green line about 2 inches thick that goes vertical down one side of my monitor. Images are still displayed behind it fine but obviously its green, with some colours struggling to be represented properly.
Does anyone know if this line is fixable for a reasonable price or will it just be worth buying a new 24"?
#Thanks all

Have you checked to see if it's in warranty? Monitors usually have 3 years (unless it came supplied with a Dell computer in which case it's 1 year).

Its a 2005 model i think, and i remember my brother checking if it was under warranty and it was a no go.
Re: Green line with DELL 2405 FPW (fixable?)
First things first, have you tried a different cable?
Secondly have you tried a second monitor on the same output?
(on the off chance...)
Most likely VLoD (Vertical Line of Death) though :(

I tried all of the above to no help.
So is line of death fixable at all?

I had something similar happen to an old plasma TV I had, although it was a black band instead of green.
What I think happens is the screen gets split into strips and you have one set of electronics driving each strip. Sounds like that goup of electronics has died. Personally I doubt there will be a way to fix this, unless you find a display expert. However I would guess it would be more economically viable to just buy a new monitor.
