Having just built myself a new system with a fantastic 19inch CRT I would like to invest in a TV card.
Anyone got any information on the best ones avaliable at the moment? I am on a tight budget so can't really afford to spend to much.

I can advise of one card not to buy: Hauppage WinTV Go - I've got one and its pants. Or more specifically the Hauppage software is pants.

Any TV Card is fine, if you use DScaler to watch tv on it, the downside is that you'll lose any remote control functionality (if you have one).Originally Posted by Ceefer
I have always recommended my avermedia averTV one from aria which was only about £35. Good card with basic but good functions.
I'm now looking to invest in an external standalone tuner which I can connect my gamecube to.

I know you said you're on abudget, but if you can stretch to a hauppauge nova-t I'd highly reccomend it - mainly for the excellent capture in full dvd format.
I've had/got several AiW's and now only capture with the nova-t.
All I want to do really is watch TV and capture it into different media formats so I can watch it on my Orange SPV E200 using my SD card.
Thanks for the advice and links.
You can get some free view cards although they might be too pricey
I am okay for freeview, I have Sky Tv in my front room and a cable coming down to my room so I can watch any channel.
Thanks for all your advice.
