What are Samsung like with replacing things under warranty ?
My Samsung 2053 BW has decided it want to go blind. It refuses to detect whatever source it's given. It's been intermitent all week but now today won't display anything.
Tried it on VGA to a laptop, didn't work on that, tried a new DVI cable, that didn't work either. Even tried it on a different DVI socket and that wasn't working.
To rule out my GFX card I'm now borrowing a 19 inch HP widescreen and running that on a DVI > VGA adaptor and it worked first time.
I seem to remember when I bought the Samsung from ebuyer that it said there was a 3 year warranty on it, yet when I go to Samsung their websie says only two years and it's a case of taking it into the retailer and getting them to swap it.
Not contacted ebuyer yet but will do so tomorrow not sure if they're phone lines are open on a Sunday though.
If it does have to go through Samsung, what are they like in general ?

I haven't heard bad comments about Samsung customer service rep's so it should be fine! They have a reputation to keep lol

I hope so, 19 inch is far too small to work with !

I registered on the Samsung website, followed the RMA process and they are going to swap the monitor over, wasn't expecting that.

Oh my GOD, I haven't laughed at a quote taken out of context quite so hard in a long time. A round of applause to you, sir.

Re: What are Samsung like with replacing things under warranty ?
I had a samsung monitor at work (with a tilt and lift hinge) the hinge had become weak so the monitor didn't stay where I put it. They sent a courier with a brand new replacement and a box to collect my old one in a day or so. Service was spot on.
Netbooks and laptops are a different story though I think. We bought about 67 netbooks and one of them has a faulty battery, obviously we could test this with the spares so rang them for a replacement battery but they want to colelct the whole netbook instead of just sending a new battery, bit of a pain since we use them in a learning environment.
Re: What are Samsung like with replacing things under warranty ?
I phoned them yesterday to find out what was going on and they said I'd be contacted within 2 business days (meaning Monday and yesterday) so they could arrange replacement and collection of the scrapper.
No such thing happened so am going to have to chase them again today. I also asked if I'd be getting a refurb to which I was corrected by the agent who said I'd be getting a quality assured replacement which would work for the rest of the warranty ! So what about when the warranty has expired ? Hmmm.
Which ever way it's worded it's still a refurb !
Re: What are Samsung like with replacing things under warranty ?
Oh what fun this is turning out to be. I phoned Samsung this morning to be told to contact the people who deal with all their repairs and replacements. It turns out that I didn't get a call today as there was no stock.
So now its being collected tomorrow for repair. In some ways thats not quite as bad because I know mine doesn't have any stuck/dead pixels and a replacement could well be in worse condition than mine. Its just frustrating that I had to make the calls to find this out.

Well it's just come back, and I was surprised to find there wasn't a mark on it. However in comparison to the HP 1907 that I was using, the picture quality on my Samsung looks alot more washed out than I remember it to be !
