    4850 Died :(

Looking for a replacement but don't know which one to go for, in all honesty looking for the same preformance or better, have a max budget of 80 pounds but maybe go a fiver over if it's worth it and please don't say ebay because I've never manged to set it up with paypal etc etc.. I've got a 400W silverpower PSU and the rest of my system is very low power.

    Thanks

    Re: 4850 Died :(

I would reconmend looking into 5750 for good low power consumption gaming graphics, the 5750 is better than 4850 by like 20% or so and uses much less power.

The 5750 does look like the best option, the online website i've used is scan, any other trusted websites that I can buy it for cheaper?

If you are quick, don't mind the green team and are ok with second hand from classifieds, check this out GTX 260. It should perform better than a 4850.

Techspot's test system with an OCed Q6600 drew a maximum of 303watts when stressed with Crysis: http://www.techspot.com/review/109-g...70/page10.html. I agree it's not ideal but couldn't it just about handle it?

    Re: 4850 Died :(

I would stick with a graphics card which has a single PCI-E power connector such as a HD5750,HD5770 or GTS450.

    Down to three options

    buy a 5750 brand new
buy the GTX 260 from here and hope my 400W power supple can handle it
or buy Pobs 9800GTX off of him..

    Re: 4850 Died :(

Both the GTX260 and 9800GTX+ require a pair of PCI-E power connectors and are long cards. The HD5750 1GB should be around 10% faster than an HD4850 with lower power consumption and DX11. Also, the HD5750 is meant to be a decent overclocker IIRC.

You can also get an HD5770 1GB for around £104:

    Re: 4850 Died :(

Would you not advise going for the two needing a pair of power connectors? how long they are is not a problem, my case is massive.

    Re: 4850 Died :(

I would rather not stress the PSU too much IMHO.

Both the 9800GTX+ and GTX260 consume more power than your HD4850:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/P...50_PCS/28.html

The HD5750 once overclocked will still probably consume less power at load AFAIK unless you do volt modding.

Would it be worth saving up a little bit extra for a 5770?/ any time soon of the the prices dropping a little?

    Re: 4850 Died :(

Supposedly, the HD6000 series is being released in the next few weeks. However, the HD5770 1GB price drops are more in line with the release of the GTX460 768MB.
