    DVI question

    As you may or may not have seen in my other thread, Im after getting either a HD 5830 or a GTX 460 for xmas as Im planning a bit of a dual screen affair in early 2011.

    Now my question is this;
    -As my current monitor is VGA only, I just wanted to know whether or not Dual Link DVI can be converted to VGA by means of a simple £5 converter? Otherwise, I will have to wait until MARCH (when I get my matched dual screen lovliness) before I can actually USE my new GPU!!!

    Please make me happy

    As long as it's DVI-I, then yes, they will work

    Re: DVI question

    Not only can a dual-link DVI-I (which is pretty much ubiquitous on modern graphics cards) be converted with a simple dongle, the chances are that if you buy a decent retail-boxed card it'll come with at least one dongle in it, so you won't even have to buy one separately!

    Hopefully you're now delirious with joy
