DVI or HDMI for connection to monitor

Which would be a better choice; HDMI or DVI? As they are both digital is there any difference. My media/ HTPC computer has both outputs on the video card? I'm looking at hooking it up to my Optoma 1080i HD projector.

    TIA

Re: DVI or HDMI for connection to monitor

Considering there is no difference between the old VGA analogue and DVI, I don't see how there would be any difference between two digital outputs for a PC. Although if your monitor support 1080i/p input, then HDMI would be better if outputting HI-DEF films from a blue ray source.

Also note that HDMI can carry an audio signal too, where as DVi can't.
