Re: Is this monitor faulty?
I assume you mean the BL2400PT, but it sounds like the "Automatic Eye-Protect Sensor" or the "Around-the-Clock Smart Reminder" kicking in. You should be able to turn that off in the monitor's OSD.
Re: Is this monitor faulty?
Bearbear, you're a hero!
Saved me looking a right prat and paying for an unnecessary return too.
I'd totally forgotten about that feature, and there isn't a printed manual so I was going to look at the settings in due course.
Thanks again :-)
Re: Is this monitor faulty?
Haha, no problem :)
It does sound a bit strange that it kicks in only after half a minute of being plugged in. I guess even if that bit is faulty, if you have no need for it and will always leave it off, then there's no need to return the unit.
By the way, I've been looking to get this monitor, I don't suppose you've tried it with some fast paced games (i.e. first person shooters)? If so, have you noticed any ghosting/trailing or any other response rate issues?
Re: Is this monitor faulty?
Sorry bearbear, I've only just got the damned thing going at all thanks to the eco sensor!! It was back in the box ready to return :-(
I was putting it on my new rig which I\'m building on the floor, so wasn\'t standing anywhere near it, which was why the sensor turned it off.
Anyway, now I\'ve got it to stay on lol I\'ve set the display settings and it looks really good.
Don\'t do games myself, and I\'ve seen mixed games reports for this panel. Seems if you like it, it\'s fine for games, if you take against it, there\'s a blur.
I\'ve also read that that the quoted responses for TN panels aren\'t reliable anyway, and the quoted lag on this one is no worse than that.
But if you go for this panel, the BL2400 has a cracking solid adjustable stand - much better than the other flimsier versions of it, and you can twist it thru 90 degrees too.
Sorry I can\'t be more gaming help.

Yeah I'm liking the look of the BL2400PT because as you say, the stand is an actual stand and not some cheap, flimsy bit of plastic. Also the bezel is matte which means it's not a fingerprint and dust magnet.
Thanks for the quick feedback though, I'm glad you like your monitor and got the problem sorted
Re: Is this monitor faulty?
How's the BL2400PT working for you btw?
What are your uses for on it?

Very good now I've stopped it turning itself off :-)
The whole thing is a lot clearer and with nicer colours than my 3 year old Acer 19 inch TN panel - even my wife, who doesn't normally notice, has remarked on it.
Not a gamer though - just using for general browsing, photoshop, excel and watching movies, so like the rest of my high power rig it's probably wasted on me. But the overall impression of clarity is fabulous.
Adn the 24 inch is great too, as it's very useful to have stuff open side by side at the same time.
I'd certainly get the same again.
