    Which card?

Just trying to figure out which card would be best for my build i will be running games at 1680x1050 and have been looking at these:

    HIS 6950

    or

    Gainwood golden sample GTX 470

The 6950 is obviosuly the newer card but im edging towards the 470 as its a little cheaper and ive heard it still performs very well especially at my resolution at i like the looks of it with the red pcb and dual fans.

Oh and a 650w antec truepower psu

    Which would you go for?

6950 as it uses much less power. Consider a 5870 too.

    Re: Which card?

There is a pre-order deal at OCUK for a 5850 for £125. The cooler is not the best according to a review by a forum user and he says it is worse than the stock cooler. Can't remember the site but he reviews them in parrallel. That is waht i would get and save the money for something else.

The £190 470 is the better card but not by a huge amount and as for the power consumption the 5850 is about 100W lighter!

    Comparison

Haven't really considered the 5850 before will have a look now thanks

Edit: Just looking at reviews of te 5850 my only concern is that its perfomance in DX11 games is a little weak.

The news about the cooler is slightly off-putting as, apart from the price, it was the supposedly quiet and cool running cooler that tempted me.

    Re: Which card?

I'm sure the 470 is the better card but for 50 quid less and not a huge drop in performance it seems like a good deal to me. The thing will overclock well.

Review here for the 5850. Thanks to just_nuke_em for a good review; love the shreddie shroud!

He's running in a HAF 922 and is not best impressed with the temps compared to the stock ones. Temps OC'd in the 60s is still not to be scoffed at though.
