But you have to realise there they use the 3400+, they should have put in the A64 3000+ as well so we had a better understanding

the card is very very fast. essentially, fit one, and whatever cou you have, that's the bottleneck (e.g. athlon fx 53)

Just shows that it's cpu limited, so as you upgrade the rest of your system you're going to get increases in graphics performance as well. Sounds good to me . I'd be interested to see if the XT behaves the same, and also how it performs with a P4. (Considering sticking the 2.8c under my prommy instead of the xp1700 @ 2.8).

I'll take increased FPS over an increased resolution any day and with many games limited by the CPU at the lower resolutions I will not be rushing to upgrade. In 6-9 months from now I can spend the same amount of money and upgrade the MB, CPU & Graphics and increase performance evenly without causing any system imbalance. What I really like about my existing system is that all the components are perfectly matched and it didn't cost the earth. I'll rebuild again when we reach a new sweet spot with the A64's and PCI express or whatever happens to be the best match for these new generation graphics cards. Looking at the Far Cry graphs there is a very real performance gain to be had right now at 4AA 8AF no matter what CPU you have. Very tempting it is too... but I'm definately going to play the waiting game and see how it all pans out.

Me wonders... what CPU speed would I need to remove the CPU bottleneck at 1024x768 and what FPS can I expect.
