Need A New Monitor!

Hi guys, Ive been using my Samsung Syncmaster 226BW for a good few years now but if im honest I find the colour to be lifeless and the mnitor itself quite dim.

So with that in mind im in the market for a new monitor. Ideally I want to spend £250 or less. Can you guys help me out? The screen is mostly for gaming :) Good colour is a must! After having lived with the samsung.

If you wanted to settle for 22" again your could plough some money into a Dell IPS monitor which would come in your budget, but leave little change.

Is the Dell U2311 any good? Or is my money better put elsewhere?

I have the U2311H, It's a nice monitor with wide viewing angles and nice colour reproduction. If I was buying again though, I'd probably have gone for the P2411 as it's £50~ cheaper.

I really like the stand on these Dell monitors though!

In your opinion is it so much better than a TN panel that it's worth the upgrade? I'm actually thinking of much the same thing getting rid of my 226BW for either the u2311h or maybe even the u2410.

I don't want to spend £250-£400 for what amounts to only a slight improvement.

If only there was somewhere that I could actually view an IPS monitor to see if it was much different. Most shops don't carry anything worth more the £200 which pretty much rules out any IPS panels

TFT central quite liked the Viewsonic VP2365wb. Its a 23" IPS for £230 so a bit cheaper than the dells and the review seems to put it on par with the dells. Could be another option.

This is really good, 1920x1200 Resolution with 2ms Response Time at 26"

I also recommend the HP LA2405wg, I'm in the process of getting 3 of these, have one already and waiting till next year to buy the other 2 since am currently using a 42" HDTV till March.

The HP LA2405wg is 1920x1200 resolution, 5ms Response Time at 24" but the good thing it has a Display Port!

Bah this is a nightmare. I just want nice bright colours and good for games :P Alas it seems that there is no really good all round monitors available :P

has S-IPS panel good viewing angles and the stand can go in to portrait if you need it and it has display port.
