HD6950 and HD6970 specifications leaked??

1. The card pictures have been shopped to put the coolpc.com.tw branding on them, so they're basically irrelevant
2. Why would GPUZ know how to read a 6900 card yet anyway?
3. Lost Planet 2 is hugely biased.
4. Nothing to say this isn't part of the faked benchmark set that was released earlier.

Edit: 5. It must be, as equating those LP2 results to other tests means the HD6970 and HD5870 are identical.

Edit2: Yeah, it is. I read the original webpage they took the pictures from and they compare the GTX570 and HD6970 as equals again. Looks more like they've just got the same old fake info again, or rather, aren't using the correct drivers, one of the two.

I'm slightly dubious about the 6950 and 6970 being the same length as well. They might be, but it's not exactly following precedence, something a bit fishy about that.
Does anyone else not think the spacing of the 6-pin and 8-pin on the 6970 looks a bit tight as well?

I can tell you right now that the GTX580 is a faster card than the HD6970 at every resolution in every game.

Even an overclocked 6970 can't beat a stock 580...

If the cheapest 570 is the same price as the cheapest 6970 and only £40 more than a 6950 surely Nvidia are in the pound seats here, if they [6970] perform at a similar level to the 570?

Terbinator: Benchmark results are all over the place, so it's difficult to say.

What seems to be quite likely, especially given the pricing, is something like this:

HD6950: HD5870 +10%, comparing similarly to GTX570 [in unbiased titles]
HD6970: HD5870 +25%, sitting slightly below the GTX580 [in unbiased titles]

I'm expecting an Nvidia price drop either way on the GTX570.

From a price/performance point of view on the 69xx i imagine we're best waiting a week for things to settle.

So the gtx580 is faster but the 6970 is around 30% cheaper

Looking like it's now 4xxx series ati caught up, 5xxx series spanked nvidia, 6xxx series starting to fall behind.
Seems to be down mainly to the total up nvidia did with the fermi, because let's face it the gtx580 is what the gtx480 should of been in the first place, it's an actual correctly working fermi chip.

However,the tessellation performance of the HD6900 series seems to have been improved significantly. Hence,one major selling point of the Nvidia cards has been diminished quite a bit.

If the HD6970 is in between a GTX570 and a GTX580 then Nvidia are not in a great a position still. The GF110 has more transistors and is still a much bigger chip overall.

The HD6800 series competes well with the GTX460 and the GTX470 and yet has less transistors too and a much smaller chip.

The HD5770 and HD5750 have a smaller chip than the GTS450 too.

I want to know more about the bench with the pink watermark, that's far and away the most promising thing I've seen so far, and it raised an interesting point about 30" resolution performance being way up versus Fermi cards.

Currently, the HD6950 is being sold at a price nvidia don't sell anything at, but it's roughly equidistant between the GTX460 1GB and the GTX570.
Currently, the HD6970 is basically the same price as the GTX570, so all it has to do is match that to compete.

It's a real shame if the 6970 is only the same as a 570 though. Leaves the GTX580 on its own.

That said, you try finding a GTX580, the supplies have completely dried up. Are nvidia even still making them?

Overclockers always launch with inflated prices, then other etailers (such as Scan) follow suit to get a few easy pounds... well they will if demand allows them to.

It's been this way with graphics cards for a couple of years now. For a more balanced view on pricing, wait a few weeks until stock levels rise among all the etailers.
