Can someone please advice on graphic cards!!

Hi everyone and thanks for reading this and hopefully you can give me some advice.

I`m trying to choose the parts for my first attempt to build a new pc and having some problems about choosing the graphic card.

Unfortunatelly I have a limited budget and I cannot really afford to spend more than £70-80 for a graphic card.

So I came accross to few which are ATI 5670, 5750, then NVIDIA GTS430

Can anyone tell me which would be the best for gaming or is there any other graphic card would be better for me.

Thanks a lot to you all.
    Regards

£70-80 is quite tight for a graphics card, but you could probably find a 4850 on clearance, or a 4850/4870 second hand for that money no problem, which would give you great bang for buck.

If you want a new card, then two choices are the nVidia GT 240 for example:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-p...reet-fighter-4

    or AMD 5670:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1gb-x...-dl-dvi-i-hdmi

Which trade wins in different games - the 5670 has the advantage of DX11, but it's not really sufficiently powerful to take advantage of it.

A second hand 4870 would blow both of these out of the water for performance.

Re: Can someone please advice on graphic cards!!

Buy it quick while it's still on sale, and get a Single Slot HD5750 1GB for £80, which is streets ahead of the GTS240 / GTS430, HD5670 and any other graphics card currently available for £80.

    Edit:

If you can stretch the budget to £95, you also open up two other options: the Palit GTS450 Sonic Edition, and the PowerColor HD5770 1GB, each of which should gain you ~ 20% over the performance of the 5750, at about 20% higher cost!

Those three are pretty much the only graphics cards under £100 I'd consider putting in a gaming rig.

    EDIT2 (re kalniel's post):

Checking back on the Hexus 5670 review, it is actually consistently faster than a GDDR3 GT240: you'd need a GDDR5 GT240 to get anywhere near a 5670: something like this Inno3D model for £55. But personally I'd pay the extra for a 5750, which performs at a very similar level to the GTS250 - it will be around 30% faster at lower resolutions and more so as the resolution increases.

Hi kalniel and scaryjim, thank you very much both of your`s advice. I know its a limited budget but its going to be my first build so I wanna play a bit safe and as long as it lets me play the most recent games on a decent graphics I`ll be happy.

I might go with that HD 5750 or see if i can get the 5770.
    Thanks very much again.

Might be worth waiting a couple of weeks. I fully expect the GTX 460 768MB cards to start having price cuts to shift them....they could easily drop down to below £100 any time with the GTX 460 1GB already the preferred choice and the imminent release of the GTX 560, something will have to give.

Oh right I see, now with this weather and xmas coming I`ll have to wait anyway so probs it`ll be good idea like you said to wait till new year and start building the pc with on board graphics or I have a ati 3450 on my other pc which I can use to test it.

Thanks for all the information and if anyone sees a any good deal on graphic cards if you could let me know that`d be great help since I have a limited budget.

    Regards
