If the numbers work out, I may upgrade on the off chance that I get a unit which doesn't squeal when folding.
    If it's £180 then I'll jump in I think.

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Supposedly the GTX560 will be good for overclocking:

    http://www.fudzilla.com/graphics/ite...x-560-ti-cards

OTH, I have also heard that power consumption is increased over the GTX460 too.

Much faster memory speeds too. This could be quite impressive however they are going to have to cap it somehow in order ot preserve 570 sales.

    First NV core to 1ghz?

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Well the current gtx460 has some very impressive overclocking, we've got factory OC cards over 800mhz with the Point of View GTX 460 Beast at 855mhz being the best I can find, which is massive for a gpu from a stock 675mhz
At these sorts of overclock the gtx 460 can actually beat both the 5850 and gtx470 (on stock settings)

I'd not be surprised if with a bit of careful tweaking that nvidia will be able to get the chips running at higher speeds, the gf104 was a stepping stone of nvidia finally sorting out all the issues they had with the 40nm process.
It was their inability to cope/plan for the process problems that lead to the delayed high heat, lower than expected clock speed of the gtx480

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti

It will be interesting how far the HD6950 1GB will overclock though. With 1GB less RAM the card should consume less power than the HD6950 2GB meaning PowerTune should be less of an issue.

However, the sad thing is that people are totally ignoring the HD6850 1GB which can be overclocked upto 930MHZ to 960MHZ for the core from the stock 775MHZ.

At 960MHZ an HD6850 1GB is still consuming around the same amount of power as GTX460 1GB at stock clockspeeds:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4002/a...p-asus-xfx-msi

At these clockspeeds it is around the same speed as an HD6870 or GTX470 in many games.

    Next Tuesday should be fun.

CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

What do you reckon Tarinder 560=470 performancewise?

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 Ti

It looks like the HD6970 1GB is going to be priced at $279:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/138674/1-...t-US-$279.html

This is $100 under the RRP of the HD6970 2GB.

    Edit!!

It maybe the HD6950 1GB instead!
