It seems the core has 480 shaders and 16 ROPS:

I wonder how this would perform compared to an Nvidia 580. I'm planning a system upgrade, and wondering which way to go.
6670 / 6570 will be mainstream graphics cards costing £50 - £80. You may be thinking of the 6990, which will be a dual GPU card probably based on the Cayman graphics cores (6950 / 6970), and should be ...
Well, the 6950 and 6970 and both, in general terms, faster than the 5870 and 5850 they replaced. The 5970, which is a dual GPU card based on the 58x0 GPUs, is generally (although not universally) faster than a GTX580. So when it lands, the 6990 should be the undisputed fastest graphics card in the world...
It looks like the HD6670 will probably be faster than a 9800GT.
It looks like the Medion Akoya P5320D has an HD6670:

Here are some pictures of the reference card and the GPU die:

The GPU in the HD6670 looks around the same size as the GPU in the HD5670:

Very interested in the 6570 personally: http://www.amd.com/us/products/deskt...-overview.aspx
Would love to see how it performs, should be similiar to 5670? It has a slower core speed but a few more (80) stream processors than the 5670. If would be nice if the 6570 manages to fit 1GB of GDDR5 onto a low profile single slot card as the 5570 failed to do this and only had DDR3 versions of the low profile cards whilst only the full height cards got the GDDR5 RAM upgrade (which did provide a significant improvement in performance).
