If you get a customer, or an employee, who thinks he's Charles Bronson, take the butt of your gun and smash their nose in.
then why use the omegas? ???
Just for general tweaks as far as I knew. I'm still on the 3.10 CatsOriginally Posted by MurphmanL

if u upgrade, perhaps u could notch up your 3dmark2k3 score by a lil bit more?
I though the new drivers didn't really help with the 3DMark score? Don't really care about it to be honest anyway. As long as it plays all my games at a good framerate I'm perfectly content. It's only when things go wrong or things get slow that I worry about that sort of thing.Originally Posted by MurphmanL

Are they easy to install over the 4.4 omega's? (haven't had chance to read the page yet - cheers 56k and multiple downloads!)
I shall probably get these whacked on over the weekend. I wish they did omega Linux drivers...

They install straight over the top, thats what i did with the omega 4.4 to 4.5 driver upgrade i am using them right now .Originally Posted by kez
Yeah i heard ATI have awful (nearly non existant) support for Linux
Inside the Omega driver package is a program called ATItools, just run this and it will test your video cards mem and core speeds till the graphics start to artifact and then it will lower the settings until the artifacts go away.Originally Posted by Romanov
I would think that your fan would allow a little overclocking, before getting too hot.
Yeah you do really need an arctic cooler or a zalman job. An arctic cooler will allow you to clock the nuts off your 9800proOriginally Posted by Romanov
Latest drivers improve the perfomance of the latest games- farcry for instance deifnately benefits from patches, latest cat's/omega's etc.
Cats usallly get a slightly higher number of 3dmarks and some people claim the omegas have improved image quality- you cant really tell the differnce in all honesty.
Dont go incresing more than 5mhz at a time and kepp VPU recover activated si it'l sort the card out if you mess up
thanks for that the arctic cooler is much cheaper than the zalman so Ill go for that before overclocking
