    Powercolor UK availability?

I'm thinking about the 6950 and 6970 PCS+ and PCS++ that I'm seeing reviews of, with the dual fan.

According to reviews Powercolor seem to have speedbinned good chips for these and I'm thinking it'd avoid the lottery of getting a poor chip.

The main reason though is that they're pretty quiet.

However I can't find any for sale in the UK. Does anyone know if Powercolor typically sell in the UK or if they're more of an American brand?

they are a Taiwan Brand as i remember.

    quote from their website:
PowerColor has established subsidiaries in mainland China, Taiwan, the U.S.A., and the Netherlands.

I guess sale on UK is a 'No'.

They have been sold in UK, I have a Powercolor HD4670, they've always had availability, not sure what's the story currently though.

    Re: Powercolor UK availability?

Ebuyer have plenty of standard Powercolor 69x0s, but not the PCS++ yet. I'd say give it a week or two and they should find their way into stock. Definitely keep checking ebuyer, as they almost always seem to have PowerColor cards available...

    Re: Powercolor UK availability?

I have a mate who had some trouble with Powercolor, not the card, but the support. He was having problems and it ended up with him contacting them about warranty, but was told the warranty is only for US/Canada customers (he was UK) and he had to go back to where he bought it from.

    Re: Powercolor UK availability?

Interesting.. from that point it'd indicate he'd bought one intended for the North American market...

I can understand why they'd charge less for those, because consumer rights are lower than they would for European ones. So possibly Powercolor sell something at 100 dollars to US distros, and 120 dollars to UK distros.

I'll pay by credit card, so that way the provider will have joint liability, so if the retailer is no longer around or point blank refuses I can go back to them.

Retailers can say all they like about going back to manufacturers, they can shove it though. They can also shove their 1 year guarantees, or warranties, they can't impose limits on consumer rights.

    Re: Powercolor UK availability?

Overclockers stopped stocking powercolor cards because they wouldnt honor the warranties on them. I would assume that other E tailers did the same thing.

    Re: Powercolor UK availability?

As Ebuyer are the main retailers for Powercolor products in the UK and have one of, if not, the best warranty/customer service, I don't see any problem.

Sorry, which bit of consumer rights do you think they're limiting?

Returns being handled through the retailer in the first year (or even two) isn't unusual. And tbh, I'd much rather approach a retailer I've already dealt with previously about a problem than go direct to a company I've never had any previous dealings with.

    Re: Powercolor UK availability?

Manufacturers claim a 1 year guarantee, and then reject any contact after that as outside warranty. It doesn't work like that.

Also, I did find them for sale - here at a pretty good price!
