I have roughly £250 to upgrade my 22" viewsonic as the dvi has blown. This puts me in the price range of the 23" dell ultrasharp on special offer ATM or buying a iiyama prolite 26 or 27 (or other branded large monitor).
Main usage is gaming. No I dont have room for an eyefinity setup :undecided:
Where would you put your money??
The dell.
Simply put, with the Ultrasharps, you know where your money has gone, and will last for many years.
(My 2004 20" widescreen Ultrasharp is now doing sterling service for my mum).
I recently went from 2x 22" Samsung TN displays, which both decided to die post warranty period, to 3x 23" Dell U2311H. After seeing these IPS panels in action, gaming included, there's no way I could ever go back to TN.Quote:

My 20 inch dell ultrasharp (with 3 year warrenty) lasted 3 years and 2 months.

Pretty much echoing my thoughts as the 24" untrsharp is a massive jump for the 1" screen size and a few extra tweaks.
iiyama were a fantastic monitor brand back in the CRT days; not sure what their TFTs are like though. We recently got a cheapish Benq 24" 1080p to replace a stolen television and I think it's wonderful: I don't think I'd necessarily bother with anything bigger than that though.
The real question is: will you ever find yourself sitting there, looking at a 23" screen, and thinking . o O (wish I'd bought a 27" iiyama...)?

For me, quality > quantity. It might not necessarily be that Dell (though I've nothing against it), but in the choice between quality 23" or cheap 'n' cheerful 27", I'd go 23".Quote:

Not sure if you mean it as though Iiyama aren't quality - they make some of the best LCD panels you can get. The OSD and case aren't as fancy as the big names but it's what's inside that counts. ;)

Also, I'd be more worried about pixels than anything else. 1920x1080 23" panel vs a 1920x1080 27" panel... why would you want the bigger one? If it's a 2560x1440 27" panel, then that's a different situation altogether.

Quality for me. I went from a 20" Dell 2007wfp (sat gathering dust at the moment) to a Dell U2311H. I have looked at cheaper, larger TN panels but they lack the colour depth and quality that i`m used to having had 2 very good IPS monitors.
