Yep 5450. End of discussion. Have one in my HTPC and does all you would want for that type of card. HW acc, AC3/DTS/HD formats over HDMI, low power, passive, cheap. Cant ask for more for the money really. Well, unless there is some 6-series equivalent that does more - though its running out of things it could do...

I was going to start a new thread on a very similar subject so thought I might ask in here instead. I have just purchased a HP Proliant Microserver which I intend to use as a HTPC and storage solution for my network. I need a low profile graphics card that doesn't use a lot of power and will handle HD video.

On another forum someone recommended Zotac GT218-ION 512MB GDDR3 DVI HDMI Out PCI-Ex1 Graphics Card, would this be adequate for my requirements?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

It could be fine if you dont have a pci-e 16 slot otherwise the 5450 I oniked to earleir would be better and cheaper.

I ended up going for the Sapphire HD5450 1GB DDR3 which was £39.26 with free next day delivery, thanks to a months trial of Amazon Prime.

I also found out my Samsung TV doesn't passthrough 5.1 audio from HDMI to the AV Receiver via the optical out, so was looking at a PCI-E(x1) soundcard low profile which are very hard to come by and when you do find them they are expensive. The best I found was Asus Xonar DX/XD 7.1 PCI-E which was £56.39. I didn't really want to spend that so I took a chance on HDMI 4 Port / Way HDMI Audio Breakout Switch Coax SPDIF don't know if it will work but if it does then its a bargain.
