Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
70% performance improvement in Civilization V is quite a jump forwards!
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
well that's going to settle the which graphics cards for £200 debate for a while
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
The performance boost figures are compared to what previous drivers?
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
has made dawn of war 2: retribution a hell of a lot smoother on a 5850, so there are more improvements than documented going on.
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
Would be nice if anyone could post some figures. There are benchies popping up over the place showing improvements; 3Dmark11 is adding about 200 points in some cases.
The 'large resolutions' with AA showing a 70% increase could be arise from 1fps to 1.7fps!
I'm pragamatic as every 11.x driver has prevented my system from using any of windows power saving functions.
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
So, poor 11.3 got disowned or something? Still, might have to try these out, although, there isnt anything really wrong with the 10.12 that I'm using - hopefully will finish the game that I am on at the moment and then change after that. Hopefully there is still something there for us 5850 users :)
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
11.3 is OK. I tried them out to make sure that the troubles of 11.1 had been removed. They were nothing special, but didn't cause any problems either.

I've stopped with 10.3 (that said, I do have an aged 4830), since any later drivers up the idle memory and core clocks significantly (e.g. from 160 to 500 for the core).

I use ATI Tray Tools to set custom 2D and 3D clockspeeds.
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
Just update.
My system crashed on start when ATI tray tools installed. Uninstall it everything working fine again.
With 11.4 sometimes screen freeze while i playing Dragon age 2. Haven't try other game yet.
For benchmark, it boost a little , like 10% more score in heaven dx11.

I am only interested in Civ V and that is quite a big jump. What have they done??

Unspeakable things no man should ever have to do. Now let's not talk of it again...
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
Thats some pretty big gains for a driver!
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
Well reviews always pointed out something was wrong with Civ V - initially for both nVidia and AMD, but nVidia 'fixed' it a little while back, looks like AMD are heading there as well.
Re: Good news to ATI 68xx/69xx User
Woo, cant wait to get my drivers updated now! :D
