    Asus DirectCUII 6950 2GB

I've had this 2.5 slot cooler card for a few weeks and runs like a dream. Started to turn the clocks up on the card from 810gpu and 5000mem, so far have i have achieved 920 on the gpu and 5500 on the mem.

Is anyone else having success going beyond this on the 6950's, would i now need to look at upping the voltage on the card?

yes up the volt and try to push the core over 1ghz. the direct cu cooler should be able to handle it, don't waste such a fine piece of cooler, i would've got this but unfortunately directcu 6950 is not a reference designe therefore won't unlock!

    Re: Asus DirectCUII 6950 2GB

I've read reports on the Asus forums that the Smartdoctor software supplied for changing the volts does not save the settings and reverts back to stock volts.

Would the MSI Afterburner software work for changing the volts ok for this card?

As for updating the bios and unlocking it to a 6970, 1 person has left a review at, see link below, saying they had succesfully done this mod. For me at the moment not worth the risk when the card only has 1 bios chip.

I wouldn't risk the BIOS mod on a non-reference card with single BIOS - not worth it for the relatively small additional performance in comparison to your overclock.

Give it a little more juice and leave it at a nice round 1GHz core. That massive cooler must be good for something!

Can't answer your Afterburner question unfortunately. Would it matter that most aftermarket cards are using different methods for power delivery? If so, it may not work unless your card shares the same power design as the MSI cards. I'm not 100% on this.
