Re: GTX 460 768 overclocking
In case anyone reads this looking for some answers...
Exclusive memory overclocking seemed to make performance worse! Was doing it all very quickly but it seems the way to go is ramp up the core. I'm even tempted to "underclock" the memory to the normal nvidia values instead of Asus' own which is likely doing no good at all.
Re: GTX 460 768 overclocking
The memory controller is a bit crap, so overclocking it may introduce more errors according to Anandtech.
However, you should be able to hit around 850 core at least at around stock voltage on nearly all GTX 460's. Upping the memory speed does improve performance i've found, but i can only squeeze an extra 100MHz out of mine without introducing errors.
As for your minimum/average gripe, sites can only reliably provided minimum frames if an in-game benchmark reports them, thats why some games do have minimum results and others do not AFAIK.
Re: GTX 460 768 overclocking
yeh, i did notice that when i was running the crysis benchmark the min fps was useless, because it's too early in the benchmark to mean anything. I suppose it's a tricky one!
I haven't tried to really push it but overclocking the core seems dead easy on this thing especially if I leave the memory alone. I think it could hit 900 quite easily on this TOP edition, 800s seem a breeze in it. If I find better results by underclocking the memory to 900mhz (stock nvidia) I'll report back.
