Any price drops on the GTX 570 in the future?

Just wondering, and I mean the near future. I think the cheapest I've seen it is for around £230, but that's for the PNY version...

£200-£210 would be a sweet spot for me (even if it's just a basic, non-factory-OC'd card), preferably from a brand like EVGA, POV, MSI, etc. Is this asking for too much or are any reductions likely this summer?

Next gen chips are expected towards the end of this year/the start of next, so the 570 is going to be around a while. However summer conferences are coming up that should be the places where we hear about new plans - if they sound sufficiently meaty then nVidia might drop the price at vendors to encourage 570 sales. What little we know doesn't give much cause for hope aside from possible die-shrinks, something that doesn't seem to go smoothly for either party.

For the performance over the likes of the gtx 560, £230 seems a little high, but I guess costs go up for decreasing returns.

Re: Any price drops on the GTX 570 in the future?

Expect it to drop significantly shortly before the replacement for the GTX 560 Ti launches - probably in the timeframe kalniel says. Last mid-December there were GTX 470's going for £175 inc VAT, a week after the 570 launched and 5-6 weeks before the 560 Ti. Of course, that £175 is a bargain compared to its £300 launch price but not so much compared to holding on a few weeks and getting the GTX 560 Ti ...

yes you are likely to see price drops just before the product is going to be superseded. That is the nature of things or if AMD do an aggressive price drop on their competing product nvidia will have to follow or risk market share.
