Had to switch to VGA - looks gash

Had to switch to a VGA cable for my not so great hanns g 19" tft (because the dvi edid is screwed apparently) and it looks worse than I remember, I don't remember noticing much of a change when I wen the other way but I suppose I've became a bit more astute.

There's a bunch of settings like phase and clock adjustment which are now available which seem to move the blur around so wondering if anyone knows of a setup guide I can follow? I swear there used to be some nvidia configuration wizard but it seems to no longer exist. Not sure if I can take this blurriness and and grainy edges :/ I was fairly content with it on DVI ... resisting urge for new monitor.

    Cheers, Oliver

you really should stick to one thread with it being the same issue.

as i cant be arsed to go read the other one, have you tried a new dvi cable ?

Re: Had to switch to VGA - looks gash

I tried the same cable at work on a dvi monitor and it worked fine registering as a pnp monitor, After plugging in various monitors to various computers the result is that I have to use VGA mode for this monitor which appears to need some tweaking. I used to use the NVidia setup but it doesn't seem to exist anymore and a while since I used vga so just looking for some advice on setup.

Without getting in to a debate and apologies if I've broken forum etiquette as to what merits a new thread etc I wouldn't really say it's the same issue but the result of the other one. This is about setting up my monitor in VGA mode and I consider the other matter to be closed which is why I posted it in a different more relevant graphics section.

its not that, i knew you had another thread but didnt go looking

i still say try another cable regardless of the other monitor tested with it
