£110 budget, 1 PCI Express power plug, quiet as possible pls

    Lo dudes

Dakky needs a new card. He has a BFG 7800 GT at the moment, and it's a tad old now. Still rock solid, but its a single slotter so it's pretty noisy. Rest of his PC is now quiet.... needs an upgrade.

Gotta be quiet.. gotta be efficient on electricity as his PSU will only support one plug, and needs to be £110 tops from Scan

    £100 would be perfect.

    550Ti?

    460 SE?

    6770?
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-s...es-dp-dvi-hdmi

I was gonna get him a second hand GTX 260 or 275 as they're good value now, but it won't fit and needs 2 power plugs.

    What you guys suggest pls?

the 6770 is just a 5770 rebrand afaik so might as well go for a 5770 http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-s...-5770-pci-e-21

For a few quid over the gtx460 768nb is actually better than the 460SE http://www.scan.co.uk/products/768mb...cores-hdmi-dvi

My gtx 460 768 requires two plugs, i used the one with psu and it comes with an adapte which you would need to feed with 2 4 pin molex plugs.

Re: £110 budget, 1 PCI Express power plug, quiet as possible pls

    The GTX460 Pob255 mentioned seems to be a hybrid of a GTX460 and a GTX460SE:

    http://forums.hexus.net/graphics-car...-460-ever.html

    I would suggest getting an HD6790 1GB:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-s...-dvi-i-dp-hdmi

However, for around £132 delivered you can get an HD6870 1GB with two games(S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call of Pripyat & Shogun 2) which is very good value for money:

Re: £110 budget, 1 PCI Express power plug, quiet as possible pls

Unfortunately most of these are two pci-e connectors

A 6850 is going to be the most powerful single pci-e connector card http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-s...2x-dvi-hdmi-dp

Slightly over the £110 budget however

There is an HD6850 single slot but this is very hard to get hold off in the UK AFAIK.

    Improved UVD.

Here is the fastest single slot graphics card I can find at UK retailers:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/254129...edium=products

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-k...es-dl-dvi-i-dp

However,it uses a pair of PCI-E power connectors and is quite a long card.

TBH,you should try to find this single slot bus powered HD6850 1GB:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/142574/Si...s-in-Asia.html

    http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2150455

There is also this single slot HD6850 1GB which also uses a single PCI-E power connector:

    http://www.powercolor.com/us/product...res.asp?id=342

Kit Guru has reviewed it so it might be available in the UK:

    http://www.kitguru.net/components/gr...dition-review/

However, the HD6850 1GB and GTX460 1GB single slot cards will probably cost more than £110.

Well,I am using a modified Shuttle G2 case and an SD37P2 ATM!! I am using an HD5850 1GB in my SD37P2 so your case will be fine TBH!!

BTW,the GTX460 will fit in an H7 case:

Power consumption is too high TBH and I would get a dual slot card anyway!! Your P2 case can take a dual slot card. I use a reference HD5850 1GB as it has a rear venting cooler. My previous two cards in the Shuttle were an HD4830,HD3870 and a 8800GTS 512MB.
