The benefits of bothering...

Well, today I decided to actually use the supported refresh rates of my monitor. The only trouble is the DCC chip is a bit nackered on it (well it doesn't work) and it's a bit dodgy with ranges.

For example, after tweaking this 19" Pure Flat CRT baby, the max refresh at 1024x768 is 119hz (120 takes it out of horizontal scan rate range!)

Anyway, my secondary monitor, a measly old 15" was shimmering a bit once I'd upped the frequency on the other (both originally ran at 85hz.)

It's now running at 89hz so that it's sort of in synch with the other - no more flicker.

And after all that - I can barely tell the difference, lol.

No, but the higher the better, providing image quality and the monitor aren't adversely affected.

They are on this heap of junk The higher the refresh, the softer the image becomes

Something cavemen used to argue about while they were waiting for TFTs with 1ms response times and a zero dead pixels guarantee.

The graphics card can go up to something silly like 200hz - it's the monitors that take the strain. My 19" is capable of going up to 150hz at 640x480, the other monitor 100hz at the same res. As the res gets higher they can't support as high a refresh rate.

I quite simply cannot tolerate a monitor at that refresh rate. It has to be at least 85hz or I notice it.

Ouch! I'd seriously consider dropping the resolution and upping the refresh rate - that sort of thing can cause health problems.
