XFX 6950 XXX Strange Noises

Hi

i brought one of these from scan a couple of weeks ago and it appears that when the card is under heavy load either the fan or the card makes strange noises. Is this normal for a 6950 or is there something wrong with my card? Only seems to happen when the fan is between 90-100%

Is it like the fan is spinning really fast, or is it more of a physical noise that you can hear as though the fan has a problem? Take the card out and spin the fan with your finger to see if there are any physical issues or obstructions.

I've heard of problems with them and the solution was to push down on the fan and you should hear it click into place.

well i'm not getting any artifacting (in fact with the fan running on full just typing this its making a noise like the fans are impacting on something). i'll try and see if they clip down and it solves the problem but other than that i'm thinking rma

fixed! the screws holding the fanmount to the heatsink were a bit lose so tightened them up and no more noise!
