    GTX 570 vs 6970

    I'm looking to build a new PC - primarily for battlefield 3. I want constant 60fps+ 1920x1080 max'd settings

The GTX 570 or 6970 seem ideal choices for this

Both these cards seem very close performance-wise, are there any reasons to go for one over the other? I'm leaning towards the gtx570 at the moment because it's in stock @ scan, and is cheaper than the 6970.

Lastly, am I making the right choice not to splash out on a GTX 580??

    Re: GTX 570 vs 6970

For 1080p a 580 is almost certainly overkill.

As for 570 or 6970....tough call. On one hand you have more vram, on the other you have nvidias closer relationship with devs...

If it's main use is going to be BF3, I would wait until benchmarks come out closer to the release. Then you will not only have a better idea of which cards runs it best but also prices may have dropped.

AFAIK,BF3 is sponsered by AMD and the devs are using AMD hardware too.

Yep that was my plan originally.. build at time of bulldozer release / soon after so have the choice between 2500k and a BD if it's any good.
But now I've started looking into it all I have the urge to just buy it all asap and play bad company 2 until BF3 is out...
    Dilemma..
