    1000W ok for 3x5870's?

Basically as the title asks. Also running an i7 920 @ 4GHz

Would 1000W leave room for a 4th 5870 or would I need to go to 1.2kW?

    1KW for 3x 5870 is ok
    Quad 5870, I would go for 1.2KW

Any suggestions for a cheap 1kW? Doesn't have to be modular if it save on cost as I have a massive case with plenty of space for hiding cables

your name says it all, you don't buy a cheap 1kw psu unless you want to blow up the parts attached.

    get a nice enermax.

Lol, sorry I made that too easy to misunderstand.

I'll rephrase, at the moment I'm looking at getting:

Can anyone recommend something either; currently available or, better value (not bad quality)?

    get anything made by seasonic.
i'd go with something like this
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1050w...ps-12v-quiet-f
It's corsair, but i believe it's manufactured by Seasonic

    Re: 1000W ok for 3x5870's?

Thanks, that looks good. I bought the OCZ ZX 1250 but have just sent it back as there are BIG problems with it especially with my MB unfortunately

Is there anything else anywhere around the £150 mark that is 1250W? I've been looking everywhere but can't find anything. I'd like 1250 over 1000 as it leaves some headroom for possible expansion whereas the 1000 probably wouldn't for me

grab the 1050 w enermax, its peak output is 1250 and the chance in yur rig ever using that is slim to none.

In my opinion, i don't see why you would need 3X 5870's.
If i was you, i'd sell while i can, and get a new card.
    but that's just me

    Re: 1000W ok for 3x5870's?

I would either go for the corsair HX1050 or the AX1200 or as people said up your budget for the enermax

six hi-res monitors in eyefinity running crysis, that would probably over tax a pair of 5870's

If he's only got a single monitor . . . then the user name says it all.
