Anyone own Sapphire 6950 2GB Toxic edition?

Hi does anyone own the sapphire 6950 2Gb toxic card? I am thinking about ordering and was wondering if anyone had successfully managed to flash to 6970 bios? Also what are your opinions on this card? Is it worth the extra money over a standard?

    Thanks

The chances of buying an unlockable 6950 new now is virtually nil.

It needed to be the reference card... But there's the Radeon 7000s coming out soon (September?), so if you're in no rush I don't see why not to wait

I don't think that the AMD 7000 series is out until early 2012. I don't really want to wait that long. The hexus review and others that I have read of the 6950 toxic seemed to suggest that the card had a good chance of being flashed as they had done it easily?

It doesn't. That was a misconception due to people assuming (and backed-up by RBEs unlock setting) that the offset to change in the BIOS is the same on every card. It isn't. There as a couple of ways to patch your BIOS without RBE if you have a non-reference though.

The problem now is that all 6950 are coming laser-locked. No BIOS mod is going to get around that

Ah I see. Bet AMD got quite annoyed at the fact people were getting the 6970 at 6950 prices

There's rumours of Southern Islands in September. See this article.

Is this card still worth buying then? dabs have it for £219. Is the overclock worth the extra over the standard?
