    ATI MultiMedia Center and DVD

Is anyone havig a problem with the DVD player in ATI multimedia center?

i have the latest ATI drivers and the latest version of MMC and everytime i try to start the DVD player i get an error like this:

"ATIMMC.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have XP professional, 9600xt card and no antivirus software. i have direct x installed.

i can use the cd player, vcd player and file player and anything else, but when i try the DVD player i get that error.

The dvd player has worked before but this was after the hard drive was formated and nothing but ATI software and XP were on the system..

    Can Anyone help??

    Thanks !!

I had an OEM 9800se aiw and the media center would not play dvd. To get it working I needed to install dvd codecs. Might be thats side of things thats arsing about. To get it working I installed windvd and if my memory is correct after uninstalling, it leaves the codecs. As I say it worked for me but I didnt get the error codes you have, I just couldnt see the dvd tab in mmc.

I think Flibb is right - sounds like a codec issue.

bluephi1914 could you edit your sig slightly? Im sure you could get main, portable and old faitfull to share 7 lines side by side instead of 16

I dont liek ati soofteware. There are better programs. For music I prefer winamp, videos I use media player classic (like wmp6.4 but a lot better). however I dont watch dvds on pc, mainly because all the software is poo...

Would this belong in the software forum?
