Does 9500 PRO support DX9 stuff?

I've got a 9500 PRO but am not sure if it supports all/some the DX9 stuff ?

I've also got a plain vanilla 9600 but I'm guessing this will be slower, no?

The 9600 is slower. I think the idea was that the 9500 was expensive to produce, whereas the 9600 is much cheaper to produce, although slower than 9500s.

Isnt a 9500 a 9700 but with parts turned off? Ive seen mods on the net where you can turn a 9500(whatever) into a 9700? The 9500 was quite an advanced mid range card wasnt it?

    Basically a 9700 with lower clock-speed, same 8 pipes.

Cracking little card, and fully Dx.9

    Thanks for the info folks.

    Another (stoopid?) question?

I'm sure I once read that this card is locked so you can't overclock it?
If that ain't so, what's the best prog to clock it with?

With the 9600 I tried Omega drivers/Radlinker and ATItool but the card always seemed to reset to stock clocks and I couldn't figure out how to actually clock the card 'cos even though the progs said the clock was changed I didn't see any results - and eg PCmark04 said the clock hadn't changed.

Don't bother trying to overclock with ATI drivers - you need Omega drivers which are 'tweaked' and best for overclocking

It is only possible to covert 9500 (non pro's) into 9700's iirc. Then overclock them to pro's.

The 9500pros are 8 pipeline, 128-bit memory cards. No way to change that. Some of the 9500 non-pros can be modded (sofware or hardware) to enable the full 8-piplines becoming 9700s.

Went from 275/270 to 350/315 Using standard cooling

Should I expect more? What do you guys get?

The difference between a 9500 Pro and a 9700 is that a 9500Pro has a 128bit memory bus and a 9700 has a 256bit memory bus. Now some 9500 non-Pros (like mine) were built on cards with a 256bit memory bus. That makes them as fast as a 9700 if they softmod properly. Tere are no 9500Pros with a 256bit memory bus though; if they had a 256bit bus they'd automatically be a 9700 since they already have all 8 pipes running.

Could we not have a sticky on this as it's a question I seem to answer all the time?
