    Pci X8 gpu

    Hi all,
I need a PCIe x8 card for my Fujitsu Siemens Econel 100 S2. Can anyone recommend one? Preferably passive, and definitely nVidia (as it'll be running various obscure OSes). Can anyone recommend anything?

Will an x16 fit? Looks like there's a cheap nVidia 500 series one from scan.

    Re: Pci X8 gpu

is the pci-e solt on the motherboard x16 in length? or only x8? (shorter)
If it's x8 size is it open ended?

A x16 card should work in a x8 slot the only issue is getting it to fit.

You can actually cut a pci-e card down to fit in a smaller slot.

ps I do hope you mean a pci-e x8, because you cannot put a pci-e card into a pci slot.

edit: and depending why you want it a gt430 might be better, more streams but slower.
the gt520 is good for video decoding that the gt430 struggles with but is some cuda based operations the lack of streams becomes a bottle neck on the gt520.
    It is very specific though.

    Re: Pci X8 gpu

    going to be tricky

looks like they are closed x8 slots and the cmos battery behind them could get in the way.
you'd probably have to cut the card down to fit.

cheap 2nd hand card might be a better option.
