    SLI/Crossfire vs Single slot Economics

    Hi all,

As in the subject I was wondering on the economics of these two solutions.

For example I have HD5750 at the moment and its works ok for now, but I’m already thinking on upgrading. I have never used crossfire/SLI so I have no idea how it’s actually works in practise.

New HD5750, the same as the one I have at the moment would cost me approx £85. Selling my HD5750 would probably earn me approx £40 which will give me a budget of £125 approx.

Which option would be better? Will 2x HD5750 will give me more than some single slot new GPU for £125? Is SLI/Crossfire work ok in general or is it full of problems?

I would appreciate any advice and comments

The most recent cards all perform very well in Crossfire/SLI, but for £130 you're getting into some very good graphics card territory - 6870 or 560 if you're lucky, and I think these would be a better solution.

    Or go second hand.

Re: SLI/Crossfire vs Single slot Economics

As I have said I have never tried SLI/Crossfire that why I’m a bit anxious with it.

I might for try second hand HD5750 and see how it works.

For that I will probably need new PSU though
