Multi screen gaming mixed aspect ratios?

I'm considering a three screen set up and have both 16:10 and 4:3 screens but I have no experiences with Eyefinity.

What I was thinking of was setting up with a 24" 19:10 screen in the centre and a pair of 20" 4:3 screen at the sides for 1600x1200 -1920x1200 - 1600x1200

    Or buying a Dell 3008 and turning the two 20" screens in portrait for 1200x1600 - 2560x1600 - 1200x1600.

    Cheers.

Mixed screens work fine, but the resolution has to be the same on all screens when you are using 1x3 profiles, when you switch to 3x3 aka, each screen is extended, then any resolution or ratio can be had.

So you end up always switching between profiles for gaming or normal desktop use. These two photo's are a few months old, but are ok to see.

    BFBC2 is at 5760x1080.

HDTV 40" and Monitors are 24"

    Desktop is set as 1920x1200/16:10 x 1080p/16:9 x 1920x1200/6:10

No, AFAIK eyefinity and 3dSurround (nvidia's version) both require all 3 monitors to be the same resolution.
You can mix and match two monitors when used separately as part of an extended desktop only.
You can use different monitors but all 3 will have to be run at the lowest common resolution of the 3, so in your given example all three would have to be run at 1600x1200 to give you a final res of 4800x1200 and the middle wide screen monitor is going to be badly stretched. (displaying a 4:3 on a 19:10)

All monitors running in a Display Group or cloned modes must be running with the same resolution. If monitors have different native resolutions, the highest common non-native resolution between the monitors will be used when creating Display Groups. Monitors running in extended desktop mode can have independent resolutions.

I'd also add that I hope you've got a crossfire setup as a single card is going to struggle with eyefinity at those resolutions

Depends on the card he is using, my 6950 (Now a 6970) works fine at 5670x1080, for example, I can play BFBC2 at max settings and BF3 on Ultra Settings (No AA tho) with decent FPS.

Source games on a other hard can max out all settings including AA with a very high rate of FPS, for example L4D2.

But, a second card for CrossfireX would be nice, I seen a lot of benchmarks that the FPS is doubled when you add a second card, personally speaking, soon as I get a new PSU then I be fitting that second 6950 I have for CFX.

    Actually that's pretty good.
I know single 5850 or 5870 would struggle on 5670x1080 with many games where 2x5770 would cope.
But that was a while back, they must of done some work on the eyefinity drivers & performance since then.

Guess it depends on the FPS people seek, my FPS in BFBC2 ranges from 30 to 80 FPS, depends on the combat, but even when it's hitting the 30's, the gameplay is fast and smooth, it's not jerky or anything, doesn't inpede my gameplay.

BF3 is the same in single player, FPS can drop from 28 to 70's depending on the action, but the gameplay is all fast and smooth, nothing jerky, haven't played online yet, can't even play right now due to LJKDFKLJS crashing.
