    TV Card

    Is it worth me getting a tv tuner card for uni?

    Are they any good?

    and Im gona need a tv license aint i?

    any reccomendations, gotta be cheap-ish

    yes they are worth it, prolly the best component i bought for my pc. i use it all the time while browsing the net.

    i'd recommend the leadtek deluxe. imo they are the best

    Are you after a decent picture? Cos the quality is toss I'm affraid Unless you get a Digital TV card, but they're not "cheap-ish"

    Have a look on ebay, you can get them for about a tenner, especially basic cards.

    I have a Hauppauge Win TV FM, thinking of seeling it as I never use it. Its ok if you want FM radio and TV.

    And yes a TV licence is required.

    If you can afford a little more (£60ish) I'd reccomend the Hauppauge nova-t digital card, excellent picture and capture is in full dvd format. The software isn't the best, but their tech support is fantastic - they replied to my emails within a couple of hours and sorted my problems very quickly and easily as well.

    bleh jus get a tv, you can get em cheap now from supermarkets or even a second hand place like cash generator. tv cards are a good idea but i have owned 4 [haupage wintvfm - the pci one - , a USB wintv, a winfast one and some other no-name one] and they have all been crap. plus you cant watch tv and run a ful screen app....i ended up jus gettin a tv and freeview box =)
