    Inno3d Savage 2000 AGP 64meg

    my 3d card problems continue

    right, this is the other card (the 1 mentioned in my other post), its not as good as the other 1 i have, but i thought it would do

    I installed this card B4 i installed XP, it runs XP fine

    i have just installed Black hawk down,

    well BHD says the savage 2000 doesnt support direct X 8.1, so i check the inno3d site, download the latest drivers, i download them, i try and use the latest drivers, XP says they are not supported, which the site say they are

    so i dont stand a chance of playing on my new game

    PC's dont half pi$$ me off, if i go and buy a 200 quid card, it might not work with my mobo, i own a PS2 and xbox, p.haps i should stick to that (the reason im trying to play this game online is a few of my mates are)
    My Setup:
    ABIT NF7-S V2.0 Mobo
    XP1700 OEM Thoroughbred cores JIUHB DUT3C O/C'ed 2080mhz from 12.5x166
    Coolermaster XDream HAC-V81 XP2800+
    TwinMOS PC2700 DDR-DIMM 256MB

    Any recent 3D accelerator will work just fine in your motherboard with Windows XP. Buy with confidence that it'll be just fine.

    Its AGP, pretty much any card will work with it, and XP, if you go for a radeon, or a nvidia (non of this savage malarkey) youll have no probs

    plus gf4 ti 4200s are CHEAP at the moment, can be had for 60ish, and would EASILY play this game WOULDNT cost you 200 notes, WOULD work perfectly on your pc in the agp port, and under xp

    Savage2000 is not only buggy and unsupported but hideously slow. I mean you are slower than a GF2MX, even the GF3TI200 is way way faster let alone something as fine as a GF4TI4200. Were you seriously expecting to play games on such an old gfx card? It's THE most important thing when it comes to gaming! This wasn't for your nF2 rig was it?

    It's not that bad, well at least it wasn't back in the day. It's about 2 years old now

    I remember Savage 4 having one of the first ring buffer based hardware triangle engines, back when Rage6c and MGA-G400 were still popular.

    If you were posh, you maybe ran a TNT2 Ultra

    even though xp say the driver isn't supported it probably is, try installing the lastest drivers and click yes, you do want to contiune when it says the card isn't supported by xp.

    this has worked for me everytime.

    Austin never slag off a savage4, it is a legendary card .
    I ran one for months and it was superb. This was a few years back though, but still, its one of all time favourite cards.

    Sure Savage was a good gfx chipset when it came out. As said back in those days TNT2 and Voodoo were common place ... things have moved on esp drivers and hw to support any remotely modern games. I have personally used a 64MB Savage2000 and found that even when it could run a game without artifacts it was still seriously slower than a GF2MX 32MB. With GF4MX440 (still yuck) costing around £30 there's no reason to use such out-dated hw ... and if you do expect poor perf and muchos problems. Of the old budget non 3dfx/ATI/nVidia offerings the KyroII were far superior to the Savage, the faster the CPU the more they would pull away, with a 1ghz CPU they could easily rival GF2TI and GF4MX440!

    Austin you obviously don't have the latest savage4. Was just playing UT2k3 on full detail, Anti-Aliasing x16 and 1600x1024 with 100fps constant

    Savage4 ... seriously? I did a quick check on 3Dmark2001SE for a guide and the highest score recorded by a Savage 4 / Pro was 1245 (XP1800+). I couldn't get any results for the Savage4 Extreme or SavageXP (never heard of those). The Savage / MX was 957 and the Savage2000 (what we were talking about here) scored 2935 (XP2000+). Again these are the HIGHEST not the average scores. For reference using XP1800+ ...

    GF2MX = 4283
    GF2TI = 6187
    GF4MX440 = 7564 (again roughly £30 brand new)
    GF3TI200 = 9602
    GF4TI4200 = 12849 (someone is selling the 4800SE for £55 2nd hand)

    Radeon7500 = 6589
    Radeon8500 = 10733

    I know it's hardly a 100% perfect example but I think it's pretty clear even being generous that the Savage200 is old and slow.
