I don't think you can really go wrong with a Samsung TFT. They make a lot of the actual TFT panels for other makes, so they can cherry-pick the best ones for their screens.

Mmmm that LG with the USB hub looks fave so far, only thing thats putting me off is there default resolution, I run 1024x768 on my 19" CRT, play CS at 800x600 and IL2 at 1024x768....

Are TFT's that much worse when not running in there default?
1280x1024 would be too small for my poor old eyes

    yo...Trig....

by pure coincidence.....guess what I ordered last week?

    yup...LG with USB hub

Its arrives Thursday...can you wait until Sat for a Zakky review?

I have seen TiG's Hyundai 17" and its AWESOME...and while TEXT is best displayed at the correct resolution, gaming seemed fine at others resolutions

PLUS....its hard to explain....but a 17" TFT is BLUMIN HOOJ...so the nativve resolution should be ok on the old eye balls....

anyway...I will have that actual one 1710B by the weekend

Although i use the native res at desktop level, i game at lower (1024) levels on it. Ive owned the 1710b for the last 15 months and its the best bit of kit ive ever spent my money on for PC. I cant recommend them enough.
I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!

the only 17" tft i can recommend from personal experience is the iiyama prolite e431s.

and zak, when a monitor says "17", that's the size of the glass tube - there's plastic casing covering at least an inch of that up, to give 15-16" viewable on a 17" crt. when a tft says "17", it means it

Got a 172v in my bedroom, and even though it looks well nice, the response time is slightly too high for my liking. When I watch action DVDs on it like Matrix, when the action gets frantic, the motion does blur slightly.

I got mine from PC World (I know, I know), but it gave me the opportunity to actually power up the TFT and check for dead pixels before I bought it.

pfft tfts even remote approaching 'good' cant be had for less that £600...they all have their problems be it poor viewing angle, poor response, poor colour definition..the list goes on but anyway this aint what this threads about.

It there any particular reason for getting a tft rather than a nice CRT? if you have a space problem or whatever then i'll just shut up =) but if you have room for a crt then a 21" cornerstone from accomputerwarehouse would suit =)

i wouldnt reccomend any tft really until they start making them with a similar quality to crts

but if you must get one then the BenQ FP767 V2 17" TFT Monitor has good reviews, £320 from ocUK

Was undecided about getting the Aria one on offer. 16ms response and good reports for £235 incl VAT. Now it's back to £276 .

    This is absolutely right.

I really believe that unless space is at an ABSOLUTE minimum, then there is better quality and value to be had from buying a CRT.

I knew it was only a matter of time before you saw this howard. You need to actually use a tft other than your mates dodgy dell boy dell before commenting.

If you use a decent tft then they can be good for gaming

Ask zak if you dont believe me he games using them.

Honestly dude even my dads £200 philips tft from dixons has only got very slight ghosting
