    Re: maybe too much

Not really, these are more normal prices for graphics cards, before all these economic problems the £ was riding very high and prices had dropped.
The big issues atm are in the mid range, nvidia is almost non-existant there and the older cards are still very good, the gtx550ti is really not much better than the gtx260 which can be got for about half the cost 2nd hand.

If you're only running 720p then you shouldn't need too much at all.

Quick question what are you currently using? or is this a new build?

You can pick up a 6770 for around £75 which is one of the better performance vs price new cards, although it's not much better than a 4870 or gtx260.
It is slightly behind the gtx550ti (5-10% slower) but they are around £100 so it's a good chunk cheaper.

    Re: maybe too much

Well the tv is going to be the main factor as to what resolution you can do, the older ones then to be 720p (1280x720) newer ones are generally 1080p (1920x1080) but there are other odd resolutions and numbers.

    Re: maybe too much

Look at the gtx560(non-ti) this is basically the same gpu, just at higher clock speeds (due to fabrication issues the 400 series never ran as well as they should of, the 500 series are basically the same chips but with the fabrication issues corrected)

    You're looking at around £140-150 http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-...28336-cores%29

Performance is around the same level as the ati 6870 and about 15% faster than the gtx460 1gb
