Bad News on my new TFT
the USB hub doesn't seem to be self powered :(
so the joystick keeps disconnecting.
The USB sound that XP makes....(dum ding) when you plug in , and the other reverse noise (ding dum) keeps happening....and the lights on the Saitek Joystick keep flashing :(
whixh to ME means it cant deal with the power requirements :(
GUTTED.......really gutted...wil try Sair/Rias's joystick later WITHOUT all the LED's on it...so hopefully Trig will be OK...
but I'm sad about that :(
LG 1710B looses a mark from me :(

What happens if you plug the USB cable going to the monitor into a powered hub?
-
dunno....am plugging it straight into one of 2 on my Nforce Asus board....only one I use.
I am only guessing its cos its not powered...as it was fine on my old 15" NEC screen.....
I didnt realise at first....then I heard the noises of it installing and uninstalling itself.

Is it a *physical* port you are plugging in to on the board, or one running off a header? Try taking other USB things out of your mainboard and it would end up working? i.e the USB feed can only do so much power
-
We've had problems with the new HP all-in-one scanner/printers doing exactly the same thing. When plugged into the mobo USB ports they would disconnect randomly, but plug them into a PCI USB card are fine...
sounds like a simular thing
-
I suspect it could be how much your running off other USB ports, overloading the board.
-
Why not just get a powered USB hub off ebuyer for a tenner off ebuyer?
-
Not the same, no point having an integrated one....
-
Does the onboard hub, or the monitor's hub have any sort of power management setting that you can turn off? That might sort it, though I doubt it, and suspect the mobo can't provide the juice...

Have swapped cables....
I WAS using my one from my old monitor.....
Iam NOW using the one that came with the new LG Monitor....
and its WORKING FINE :D
how weird is THAT? Same length cable......and the old one still works on the old monitor
Either way....I give the LG its point back...seems fine now :)
*wanders off mumbling about a Monitor wanting its "own brand" cable * ;)

-
feel a bit silly really...its fine on the new cable :)
-
I lied..its doing it again :(
-
What's the 5V reading like on your mobo?
-
I have absolutely no idea....at all :(
However...I can tell you what the manual on Page 5 reads like ;)
Seriously....I give up.......lovely monitor...really very nice. Cack USB hub.....but for cameras and stuff with theit own power I'm sure its fine.
Incidently..Trig has his one now too....same US hub problem, but he seems happy too :)
