It will be an AGP killer later on....but it will not become mainstream in a proper fashion i.e. every board having it for 1 year, as well as them ironing out problems with it.

Whats the point in getting a mid range PCI-Express GFX card (X300 and X600) when you're gonna have a top of the range mobo to run it.....???
splash out on the mobo so you can only afford a mid range card![]()
PCI express cards are basicly here then, but where are the mobos? :E
PCI-express mobos are already out - ocuk has the Abit LGA775 boards in stock - still haven't found the the new P4's for them tho.
I think things should start to catch up shortly, then when most people have changed to new pci-express cards and mobos btx will come out make ppl upgrade again![]()
btx will come out and most people will ignore it![]()

I "hate" discussions like this, the harware industry seems to be getting worse in terms of standardisation rather than better which it needs to do. So btx will not rule the world then as AMD will not support it? If thats true what do you think will be the future standard, non btx running pci express?
edit - lessened invective Im not that incensed but heck why make things even more confused than they are already![]()

it's not so much AMD not supporting it (which they don't), but the case manufacturers getting mightily peeved with Intel changing the specs every five minutes, and generally acting like an arse..
