Unhappy Advice on mid range Graphics card PLEASE!!

I am currently looking at upgrading my i7 PC,

I am running 64bit Win7 Pro with 4gb ram and a dated radeon 5000 series.

Looking to upgrade to either a radeon 6950 or a Nvidia GTX 560ti at around the £200 pound mark.

I have seen several in the price range, just weighing up the pros and cons of 1 or 2gb for a little extra cost.

Any advice over which way to turn would be greatly appreciated.

A Sapphire Dirt3 edition 6950 would be a good option. These have extra shaders which can be unlocked by a BIOS flash (Or if you're lucky, a flick of a switch) to match the 6970.
1gb of RAM is probably sufficient, but games like BF3 on Ultra settings can use 1.5GB+

You cant go wrong with either of those two gfx card for the money.

But I'd go for a 2gb 6950 as games are coming out like BF3/Skyrim that use 1gb+ of vram swings it for me.

I wouldn't call the 5000 series dated, they're only one generation behind (until January, when the 7970 gets properly released). Which 5000 series card do you have? A 5870 has roughly the same performance as the GTX560 Ti / HD 6950, so moving between those cards wouldn't really be worth it...
