odd there terb, maybe the AA is killing it? i have everything on high with 2xAA no filter (maybe you have HBAO?) @ 1920x1080, dont get 60FPS but i tend to hang around 45FPS on most maps, if i take off AA i can get almost 60.

480 should be fine!.

I just think its down the nature of the game - nothing can prepare the GPU for the tank next to you suddenly bursting into flames because someone flew the chopper into it.

Has anyone noticed - it seems SA is getting less and less leaks about AMD GPUs. I wonder if the recent reorganisation at AMD has caused this??

It is still rather odd that even on low you are struggling since your card is much better than mine! VRAM is a huge bottleneck for my card, always at 990 or 999mb . Maybe check drivers upto date?

Well it's more a successor to the 560 than the compute oriented parts.

It is also probably why it is smaller than Tahiti and consumes less power too. It will be really interesting to see the performance/watt of the HD7800 series compared to the HD7900 series.

There is some noise about reviewers getting samples at the end of this month or early next month. It looks like the launch will be next month.

Also,it looks like Kepler will be demonstrated this Friday.

Not soon to wait and see if the GK104 ends up being the £250 to £300 HD7970 beater it has been touted to be. Hopefully,performance should be at least around 30% to 40% faster than a GTX580 going by previous generations.

Hang on, isn't beating the current top-line card by 40% a bit much to ask for a 2nd tier chip ? If we follow your estimations, we would expect that the 110/680 would exceed the 580 by 40%.
Wouldn't we expect the 104 to be more like 20% at best ?

The thing is many of the rumours indicate the GK104 will be the GTX680 with the GK112 being the GTX780. The GK110 is meant to be the dual GK104 card. 30% to 40% faster than a GTX580 would put it around 10% to 20% above an HD7970 3GB.

We will soon find out!

We shall see. I'd put the cost of a beverage on the fact that it will be a paper launch designed to dent AMD sales.

I don't think so TBH. The original Fermi launch was the second worse ever for nVidia IMO (second only to the 5 series FX launch!)

Combine that with the prices that AMD are charging at the moment and I see nVidia pulling out all the stops for a proper launch, if only to be a pain in the $%^
