I would say MSI and Gigabyte.
I would only purchase items from scan, ebuyer or amazon, unless you can recommend others

They would be my ports of call too. Nectar points with Amazon too!:)
OTH,its hard to be objective about retailers.
Novatech and CCL are meant to be OK(not used them). Dabs were fine the last time I used them. Some peope swear by Aria and OcUK(others hate them). I bought a few parts from Yoyotech, them were fine.
Novatech has cashback(last time I checked) from TopCashBack and Quidco.

The 1GB models seem to have the 1200MHZ RAM and the 512MB models the 1400MHZ RAM.
TBH,RAM speed should not make a massive difference for media usage. Maybe for games but the GT430 is not really a gaming card. Even the amount of RAM should not matter - 256MB would be more than enough for a media card IMHO.
The 512MB version does seem to be EOL though although Amazon still sell it:

if you were to rank these manufactures, how would you rank them.
1. Asus
2. Evga
3. Gigabyte
4. Msi
5. NIS
6. Innovision
YoYotech, never brought from them before, how good are they compare to ebuyer and scan
Cheers
In the first year any problems are the responsibility of the retailer and you shouldn't have any problems at all.
Gigabyte have a UK return centre for RMA after the first year. ASUS are a little unpredictable.

oh how's XFX???? any good???
Its been a while, but the XFX RMA service is the worst I have had to use by a long way. I would avoid buying an XFX card if you have to deal directly with XFX.
In the US its a different story and they are considered one of the best.

google a review on the card and it should compare it against nvidia.
Re: HTPC - Need Graphics card that supports DTS HD / True HD MA
What does Cores mean on GPU's. looking at scan website it seems that AMD cards have more cores than nvida??
thank you
Re: HTPC - Need Graphics card that supports DTS HD / True HD MA
In simple terms a GPU is made from a group of small cores that work in parallel.
The more cores you have faster the processing, but you cant directly compare Nvidia to AMD GPU's as they both take a different approach on the how the pipeline processing is done.

A GTX570.
However,I would wait until summer for both the Kepler and GCN ranges to be fully launched. OTH,the for media playback any of the sub £50 cards would be fine IMHO.
