    HD7950 pricing and specifications leaked!

    More details here:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/159049/AM...-Revealed.html

It is meant to be around $400 to $450.

With 20% VAT that should be around £310 to £350.

Any more is price gouging by retailers and suppliers.

Retailers in the UK are starting to say the card will be over £350. If anyone you know,is interested in the card make sure you tell them that it should be between £300 to £350.

The current HD7970 should be not more than £420 for reference models. Cards could be had for just under £420 from UK retailers until they "adjusted" the price due to demand.

If you look at both the HD5850 and HD6950 they were around 20% to 30% cheaper than the higher end cards.

Its the greedy price gouging by retailers and suppliers which is screwing us over, and giving AMD a bad name too.

Re: HD7950 pricing and specifications leaked!

Here are examples of the price hyping even before release:

    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...6&postcount=32

    http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread....=1#post1685435

People were talking about the HD7950 being around £300 to £350 and these are the responses they got.

Not with UK retailers and their pre-launch price hyping.

This way they will make older SKUs look better value even at current prices and then they can ditch them quicker with no price drops.

Scan did the same though. You need to catch the pricing within one or two hours of launch. After that once a competitor increases prices all of the UK retailers do so. Basically it is a pricing cartel.

    Apparently they have shipped already.

The card that interests me most is the HD7890. I've a feeling that will slip in under the radar and might offer good performance for the money.

Re: HD7950 pricing and specifications leaked!

Core count is the same across both?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

The HD7950 has 1792 shaders and not the 2048 shaders the HD7970 contains.

OTH,if it is anything like the HD5850 1GB and HD5870 1GB,at the same clockspeeds performance is probably similar.

Re: HD7950 pricing and specifications leaked!

I hope the cards come out at £300-£350 and can stay within 15%~ the performance of a HD7970.

Totally, what i was saying is that at around £300-350 it probably fits a lot more peoples budget if the overall performance only drops around 10-15%.

The short version: greedy UK retailer and suppliers price gouging the card even though the RRP is between £300 to £350.
