Anybody see in to the Future

I wonder if anyone can offer some advice.

I will be probably doing a new build Oct/Nov this year.

But I see at the mo the 9800 pro's are so cheap compared with last year.I can pick up a 128mb 256 bit 9800 pro that more than likely will softmod to a 9800XT for anywhere between £125-£160.

My question is this, should I buy one now and bottom drawer it for my new build or do you think that by then the cut down versions of the X800 will have appeared.

If so what is the betting on the performance of the cut down versions compared to the current 9800 Pro's.

At the moment the £300 X800 are nearly twice the speed/performance of the 9800XT's.

If I can get a X800 SE (or whatever the cut down versions will be called) for example for £150 quid do you think they would perform better than the current 9800 pro's.

I know this is a bit of crystal ball gazing but the graphics market is changing so quick what with PCI express due soon etc it's difficult to buy now in order to still have a decent machine in a couple of years time.

    Any input would be appreciated

I would be using this rig for gaming and want to future proof games for the next couple of years.Maybe not neccesarily at max but with enough eye candy on

The best advice is to not buy a card at all until you buid the rig- by that time there will be plenty of next gen cards availabe and they will be cheaper. There will also be more 9800pro's available second hand

Yeah, never buy any computer components that you wont use very soon, unless it's an amazing one time deal or something.
