    Silent GPU for HTPC

I want a GPU for my HTPC, ideally something passive and single slot and it HAS TO HAVE a black PCB.

I did want an nVidia card but there is nothing that ticks all the boxes, for AMD there is however

BUT its XFX, are they still pretty crap? or are they alright?

This also ticks all the boxes but its not passive, how silent you think it will be?

OK, I'll bite. Why on earth does it *have* to have a black PCB? Are the aesthetics of your computer really more important to you than getting the right component for the job?

that said, the XFX should be fine - I believe their customer service and RMA have improved over the last few years...

p.s. black PCB passive nvidia cards (can't comment on their slottedness though):

    MSI G210 £28
    MSI 8400 GS £29
Zotac GT520 £55 EDIT: just realised this is a PCIc card, not PCIe!
    Incredibly funky 4 display KFA2 G210 £91!!

Not really, I just wondered if you were aiming for a particular scheme and a different colour could highlight / contrast and still look good. I assume it's going in a windowed case so you'll be making a visual feature of the case internals. Just seems weird to turn down an otherwise suitable card based on the PCB colour...

    Re: Silent GPU for HTPC

I personally have never had anything go wrong with my XFX 7900gs (still going now, until tomorrow when I retire it). That said, I've not had to use their customer support at all.
